Melanie Johnson is the founder and friendly face behind the School of Mahj, launched in 2025 to share her passion for American mahjong with new players. She is a member of the Mahj Life Instructors Guild, a network of mahjong teachers committed to the highest standards of instruction using National Mah Jongg League rules.

Join the School of Mahj Fall League! Play weekly at 1861 Distillery from 10am-12pm starting September 11 for six weeks (week off October 9), culminating in a celebratory open play on October 30 when league prizes will be awarded! Build skills, make friends, and have fun—your "Back to School" mahj season starts here!
